Zonta Club of Northwest Wayne, is one of over 1,200 clubs of Zonta International, a worldwide service organization.  Founded in 1919 in Buffalo, New York, Zonta takes its name from the Lakota Sioux Indian word meaning "honest and trustworthy."  Zontians volunteer their time, talents and energy to local and international service projects that are designed to advance the status of women.

Zonta gives you the chance to be a part of something much larger than yourself...

Zonta allows you to give of yourself to others, to actively participate in the selection of service projects to help your community, and to improve the legal, political, economic, educational, health and professional status of women worldwide.

The Zonta Club of Northwest Wayne County supports community projects through fundraisers.  Our major focus has been providing scholarships for women to continue their education.  Over the years, we have donated over $30,000 for the Women's Resource Center at Schoolcraft College and the Focus on Women Scholarship Fund at Henry Ford Community College.

We have provided enrichment activities for families at the Wayne County Family Shelter; we support breast cancer awareness, research and education; and also support cultural events at the Greenmead Historical Site along with the preservation efforts of the S.E. Michigan Land Conservancy.

Finally, we support our members by offering friendship, mentoring and an opportunity to change the lives of women.  Zontians give from their heart to help others.  Do you have the heart?
