Zonta Club of Big Rapids, is one of over 1,200 clubs of Zonta International, a worldwide service organization. Founded in 1919 in Buffalo, New York, Zonta takes its name from the Lakota Sioux Indian word meaning "honest and trustworthy." Zontians volunteer their time, talents and energy to local and international service projects that are designed to advance the status of women.

Zonta allows you to give of yourself to others, to actively participate in the selection of service projects to help your community, and to improve the legal, political, economic, educational, health and professional status of women worldwide.
The Zonta Club of Big Rapids held their 6th annual Zonta Fashion Show on Monday, August 24th. This year's event drew over 100 guests and the profits earned will to go to the new library at the Mecosta-Osceola Intermediate School District's Special Education Center. Many fashion show attendees also brought books to be donated to school's new library. Volunteer models showcased clothing, jewelry and accessories from local businesses including JCPenney's, Fairman's Apparel and Rogers Jewelers. Several area businesses and members of the Zonta Club of Big Rapids also donated items for the events silent auction.
