The Zonta Club Michigan Capitol Area members worked together to outfit 3 baskets that were part of a silent auction at the District Conference in October. Members of ZCMCA wrote personal notes as to what Zonta means to them and placed the notes in the baskets to help bring joy and happiness to our Zonta sisters.
The "Zonta Spirit" basket that included 8 bottles of wine, one bottle of liquor and assorted chocolates; the "Traveling Beauty" basket was a travel make-up case filled with makeup, toiletries, and assorted beauty items; the "Pamper Me Pink" basket was filled with pink beauty items and Champaign and chocolates. $310.00 was raised through the basket venture.
On August 2, 2014 the Zonta Club of Michigan Capitol Area hosted a reception in the home of Denise Quarles for Tsemaye Opubor Haraeus, former member of the Zonta International Public Relations and Communications Committee. Mrs. Hamraeus’ major responsibilities on the Public Relations and Communications Committee were with the Zonta Says No campaign. District 15 Governor Cheryl Hall and Lt. Governor Joy Smith along with Zonta sisters of ZCMCA, East Lansing Area Club and the Lansing Club, engaged in a detailed discussion with Mrs. Hamraeus regarding the Zonta Says No campaign, as well as her love, dedication and commitment to Zonta.
Ms. Hamraeus encouraged all in attendance to strive to advance in Zonta and to stay true to the Zonta mission of “service to women”.
